Group composed of the finance ministers and central bank governors of 19 countries (the 8 most developed countries in the world and the 11 most important emerging countries) plus the European Union, which is represented by the Council Presidency and the European Central Bank. Since its creation, it has generated great interest, expectations, and also strong criticism from some sectors. It is a forum for consultation and cooperation. It studies, analyzes, and promotes debate on issues of interest to industrialized countries, emerging economies, and global economic stability.
